OUR NORMANS FAMILY

OUR NORMANS FAMILY

Normans was founded in 1937 and has been a retail fixture in downtown San Pedro ever since.  Situated in its original building on charming Sixth Street, it still resonates with many generations of shoppers. From our humble beginnings selling Surplus items, to Dittos in the seventies, Normans is always changing to meet the demands of the day, evolving into a full service School Uniform Company twenty years ago.  What sets Norman’s apart from other school uniform companies is our commitment to customer satisfaction, fine-tuned from all the years and demands of a contemporary retail store.

Come in and admire the original tin ceilings, 30’s era American craft tile and large glass frontage. Even Steven Spielberg was enamored with our store choosing to film parts of Catch Me if You Can inside Normans. You will feel at once at home when you enter.

Since 1976 Normans has been family owned and daily operated by the D’Ambrosi and Mazzella families. Decades of retail experience and expertise define our Normans team. Our extraordinary staff has been with us for a very long time, many for 35 years. They have seen everything and know exactly how to fit and hold any child’s attention.  Our family like atmosphere immediately puts parents and children at ease. There is also never a communication issue with families; Many of our staff are bilingual in Spanish, Tagalog, Croatian and Italian. Usually customers are greeted by name or with a warm recognition. It is also not unusual for customers to request a favorite staff member that they have become close to over the years. We strive to make all your experiences with us as easy and enjoyable as possible.
